I use artistic means to explore the concept of authenticity – orbiting the elusive boundary between the real and the artifical. Be it in the imitation of the real with purely computer-generated images, or in the production of photographs that at first glance appear to have no physical origin.

Imitation as a craft compels me to reflect on which qualitites are characteristic of a thing and which ones are insignificant. The decisions this process requires become legible as traces and point to phenomena of the origin which would otherwise remain obscured.
